When challenged by the client, Great Canadian Gaming Corporation and project architect, DA Architects and Planners to design the interior of the River Rock Casino Resort Hotel expansion, SSDG Presented a concept respecting the existing Rocky Mountain Lodge theme. At the same time, we introdiced a "naturally modern" or "modern mountain" style creating pockets of interest and individual identity.
The two unique curved escalators in the hotel lobby installed under the direction of DA Architects and Planners provided an opportunity for a stunning introduction to The River Rock Hotel and Casino.
SSDG created a faceted, jewel-like concept for the escalators using sparkling back-painted glass which was further enhanced by the use of a gold foil finish on the uniquely curved trims. Underneath this sinuous, sweeping form, is a smooth white skin carefully coordinated with feature lighting to provide a dramatic entrance to the hotel.
SSDG called upon Grosvenor Uber Materials to supply the metallic back painted glass that clad the escalators on both sides in faceted panels. With this focused highlighting, the end result is a stunning, diamond like presentation.
